A place of strength for creative thinking and joint pioneering deeds.
Not that the seminar and SwissHistoricHotel "Kreuz" in Herzogenbuchsee is haunted. But the old and young spirits of the hotel mean well for you and us. For decades, they have been ensuring imaginative action, mental fitness, social movement and joint progress. They are part of the DNA, the culture of the "Kreuz". New ideas have not only grown and continue to grow here, they also take root in the long term.
With your next seminar, your conference, a summit meeting in our fascinating attic as well as in smaller workspaces and cozy rooms, you will continue to write your history and we will continue to write ours.

ICOMOS Switzerland presents the Hotel Kreuz in Herzogenbuchsee with the "Historic Hotel of the Year 2025" award. With this award, the jury recognizes the comprehensive and professional efforts that have gone into the restoration and maintenance of this venerable establishment. Built in 1787 as an inn, the business can look back on a successful but eventful history. The women's association bought the inn at auction in 1890, which opened in 1891 as the first alcohol-free community center in Switzerland and developed into a social and cultural center. In 2010, a closure led to great commitment from the population to revive the building. In 2013, the municipality rejected an expensive renovation, but later supported the sale and the concept of the Kreuz project team. The renovations from 2016 onwards preserved historical elements such as the roof and at the same time the spacious attic with its impressive wooden structure was restored and opened to the public for the first time. The restoration brought the building up to 21st century standards of comfort, in close consultation with the cantonal heritage protection authorities. The interior combines historical details with locally produced furniture. The history of the inn can be experienced throughout the establishment - from the rooms named after historical figures to the paintings in the corridors
